It's not a site I have ever heard of, but be that as it may, it's clearly not a Corel site. But it's less expensive than the Standard or Professional editions. The H&S edition is not upgradable to a later edition and does not itself qualify for a discounted upgrade price from an older version (e.g., WPX4). Since all you typically need is QuattroPro, perhaps just getting the Home & Student Edition directly from Corel will likely be better and less problematic than trying to install a 13-year-old version of WP Office X4 - even if that version is a complete and unadulterated copy, which is still an open question in my mind.

I'm in agreement with others here: Windows has changed several times since WPX4 was released, and Windows 10 - and probably Windows 11 - will be different from what WPX4 expected back in 2008. And you would have needed to apply a Service Pack (#1 or #2) to change the build number on your installed version, so (especially if it's a boxed version) it could still be build 14.0.0.603 even if you bought it in early 2009 or later. Up until this year, each new version came out in the Spring - e.g., in April or May - of every other year. When did build 14.0.0.603 actually come out? If I have a rough idea of that, I can go through the old statements of my credit and debit cards around that time.Īs I mentioned in my post and also on my linked page, you have the initial release of WPX4, which came out in 2008. Well, I never throw anything away, so I'll have it here somewhere but the problem is I don't have any idea when I actually bought it. It was a little jewel! They should have stuck with it.) So why should I update to a program which is essentially the same as it has been for a long time, when there is always a danger that some minor glitch might even make it unstable for my purposes? Now, if Corel were to set about seriously competing with Microsoft's Excel, I'd be all over it! (WP came out with a spreadsheet called PlanPerfect. I very much prefer it to Excel because it gives -2^2 correctly as -4.

However, I use WP maybe twice a week, and the mail and presentations stuff never. I've been an unconditional supporter ever since. I'm old enough to remember the original fight between WP and WordStar. This is especially relevant for newer operating systems such as Windows 10/11. You might consider upgrading to the newest version on the site (your serial number for X4 should allow you to buy the upgrade for a reduced price). There were 2 small and 2 large service packs released after 2008. Moreover, your WPX4 build number indicates it is the initial release of X4.
